Visit The Eadington Gallery in both North and South Lake Tahoe to view the region’s largest collection of Lake Tahoe photography. In addition to art, the galleries offer the area’s most advanced digital reproduction services and are able to print images large enough to fill even the largest walls on materials like fine art canvas and treated aluminum.
The story of the Eadington Gallery is rooted in the digital photography revolution. In 1996, professional photographer Michael Eadington founded his first business, High Mountain Imagery, when he purchased one of the first generations of large format Giclée printers, the first such printer in the Northern Sierra Nevada region. In these early days of the industry, most people who knew what they were doing were reluctant to share information. Michael had to learn to negoti- ate the technical aspects of photography, understand color management, and work through environmental issues that come with printing in the mountains. Over the years, he mastered the nuances of shooting and print- ing photographs and the understanding it takes to reproduce artwork.
With a sizable portfolio, Michael opened his first art gallery, the Eadington Gallery Tahoe City, in 2011 and a second gallery in South Lake Tahoe in 2015. These two galleries feature Michael’s photography and also the photography of featured artists Jon Thompson and Abe Blair. Most of Michael’s imagery was shot on traditional medium for- mat film cameras. Like the record versus the CD, Michael believes that the rich colors “film” delivers make his images stand out in a world of digital photography.
