The Lake House is a cool, hip and eclectic eatery offering some of the best food and drink anywhere around the lake. Owner Jeff Sparrow, a San Francisco native, has stirred a generous dash of City style into this restaurant in the woods of his adopted home town of 20 years. His wife Misty, a South Lake Tahoe local, has designed a menu based on upscale classic comfort food infused with gluten free, farm to table, and vegetarian options.
With 8 craft beers on tap and a stellar selection of sparkling, white, red and dessert wine, plus some favorite bottled ciders and beer, they have the perfect pairing for your meal.
Lunch, served from 11:30 to 2:30 daily, is a refreshing change from the mainstream. Chef Martin Franco’s offerings of delicious salads, an amazing parsnip soup with mushrooms and truffle oil, or the spicy hummus with root vegetable chips are brilliant choices to start. Share an order of crab stuffed mushrooms or hot spinach artichoke dip. For the hungrier folk, The Lake House serves the best fish and chips in town, a real deal Cuban sandwich served with fried tostones, a Certified Angus Beef flat iron steak with french fries, a portobello pesto sandwich with sweet potato fries and some of the best burgers you’ve never had! Kids of all ages love the grilled almond butter and fig jam on sourdough.
At Dinner, served nightly from 5:00 to 9:00, they break out the white tablecloths and dim the lights. Can a restaurant be elegant and sophisticated yet also relaxed and unpretentious? Absolutely! Chef Jimi Nakamatsu brings his years of fine dining experience to the table with artistic prowess. From their appetizer classics like beef carpaccio, fried calamari and escargot to outstanding entrees such as pan seared lamb chops, chicken marsala, scallops and prawns chimichurri or steelhead trout, their dinner menu is unrivaled!
Happy Hour specials daily, 2:30-5:00. Wine Club meets monthly. Large parties welcome!
